A loan helped to purchase inventory of clothing, personal items, mannequins, and hangers.

Claudia Sarai's story

Claudia, 25 years old, is Guatemalan from the central highlands. She is a married woman and does not have children yet. She managed to study up to the ninth grade. Her spouse works as an operator at a soft drink factory.

Three and a half years ago, Claudia began her business selling second-hand clothing. She rents the house where she lives and there she established her store. Due to her good management, her business has grown and, after being part of a communal bank, she now wants to be part of the new Friendship Bridge program called Puente al Éxito. This program offers individual loans and business counseling so women grow their businesses.

This program is supported by Kiva, so Claudia comes to the Kiva lenders to ask for her first individual loan. She plans to invest this loan in the purchase of inventory of clothing, personal items, mannequins, and hangers to display her products.

Currently, Claudia has a lot of demand and, for this, she wants to make the most of the end-of-the-year sales to get a bit more income. Claudia's goals are to open a new business, purchase land, and build a house.

Claudia is grateful for the support of the Kiva lenders to help women like her.
