Welcome to Canglon!

Canglon is a small rural community that is made up mostly of plantain, cassava and sweet potato farmers in rural East Panama.

The Canglon Community-Owned Bank, was founded by strong women leaders of this town with the vision of generating opportunities and prosperity for their community. The community-bank is a small, women-led association that allows members of the community to have savings, take out small loans, and gain financial literacy. Most people in this community have been historically excluded from traditional banks, but the Community-Owned Bank provides members with financial inclusion in their own community. So far, they have

Today, they are applying for a Kiva loan that will be used to provide working capital to the bank's farmers, who are running microenterprises in farming, livestock, restaurants, and construction.
