A loan helped a member to buy sacks of peanuts, store and re-sell them.

02_Baricounda Group's story

This group was set up in December 2014. It consists of members living in the same village where there is good social harmony. Their main business is small-scale commerce.

Mariama is the group’s representative and is pictured in the photo (purely to respect the safety measures against Covid-19). She is 27 years old, married and the mother of two boys. She is involved in commerce and has a lot of experience in the sector.

With a loan, she plans to buy sacks of peanuts to store and then re-sell in her neighbourhood when the prices go up.

The profits generated from the business will allow her to boost her savings and improve her family’s situation (in terms of diet, health and schooling).

In this group: Ansatou, Meta, Adama, Dienabou, Coumba, Coumba, Santang, Satang, Awa, Mayang, Kadiatou, Adama, Mariama, Raby, Mariatou, Halimatou, Mariama
