A loan helped to buy grocery items, beverages, snacks, canned foods, fresh meat, and other items.

Aon's story

Aon is a 62-year-old a married woman who resides in a small rural community in Surin, northeast Thailand, with her husband. The family generally cultivates rice to make a living and runs a small general store with a food stall in front of the house.

Besides rice farming, Aon operates a general store selling basic groceries. She also owns a food stall located next to the store, selling noodle soup with meatballs. Forty years ago, she started her retail career as a street vendor and has developed her business into the small general store she is currently running today. She is now looking for a loan to reinvest in her store again to improve service and add more items to sell.

Therefore, Aon applied for a second loan from Kiva to purchase grocery items such as beverages, snacks, canned foods, household goods, and personal care. Part of this loan will be invested in her food stall, buying fresh meats, meatballs, noodles, vegetables, kitchen utensils, tables and chairs, and other cooking ingredients.

This loan will allow Aon to attract more customers as well as earn a stable income so that she will have more savings for future spending and investment.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
