Sunee's story

Sunee is a 32-year-old married woman who resides in a Khmer community in Surin province, Northeastern Thailand. She lives with her husband and two school-aged children. To make a living, her family cultivates jasmine rice, and she weaves silk cloth for sale.

Sunee is currently running a weaving business, it's a family heritage passed down from generation to generation. She has spent a lot of time in the past practicing her weaving skills. At the present, she is a skillful weaver and produces many beautiful silk clothes for sale at the market stall. Most of her customers are locals.

Since silk products are popular in Thailand, Sunee is looking for an opportunity to increase sales and attract more customers. Therefore, she requested a second loan from Kiva to increase her working capital so that she can reinvest to improve her business. This loan will be used to buy weaving equipment, silk thread, color dyes, wooden shuttles, and other supplies needed for weaving silk cloth.
