During my matriculation at Tuskegee University, I noticed that the surrounding community of this beautiful historic university was suffering with one grocery store, four fast food restaurants, and 6 dialysis centers. I knew from my background in agriculture that this was indeed a food desert. This was when I took the time to cultivate what was then VeganQueenCuisine (VQC).
VeganQueenCuisine was originally a plant-based catering company that provided faculty, staff, students, and the community of Tuskegee University with healthy alternative meals and beverages. Everywhere from vegetarian/vegan soul food to Caribbean plates, we wanted to include everyone's taste buds in our healthy alternative meals and show that healthy tastes good and is for everyone. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit, and I was forced to return home with my family in Washington, D.C. I had put so much time into VeganQueenCuisine that I did not want to give up. That is when I took the time to pivot my company and sell our Plant-based energy beverages solely online, allowing us to now connect and touch communities across the entire U.S.
The name Rejuvenation was given because of the way this energy beverage makes you feel rejuvenated without the jitters or crashes. Rejuvenation has transformed the lives of thousands, converting those who are addicted to sugary energy drinks by giving them great taste and high energy, and with amazing health benefits. My passion for creating equality and inclusion amongst healthy products keeps me going daily. I strive to provide all people with healthy beverage alternatives by promoting rejuvenation in all areas. VQC is a minority woman-owned plant-based energy beverage alternative company providing healthy alternatives to consumers. We have three core values: great taste, affordability, and inclusion. Rejuvenation is the answer to combat sugary, chemically-enhanced energy beverages. We use only clean luxury fruits and vegetables to give the highest amount of energy without the negative effects of jitters or crashes.
Currently, VQC manufactures out of Union Kitchen located in Washington, D.C. We also have an online store that consumers can purchase from. VQC was started because we wanted to change the negative connotation behind healthy food and beverage items. We wanted to create inclusion within the plant-based space and reel more consumers in by giving them a great-tasting alternative.
What is the purpose of this loan?
VQC is applying for this Kiva loan because we want to expand into larger markets such as Giant Foods, Whole Foods, and grocery/grocery markets worldwide. Because start-up costs are very high, we have not been able to make large production runs because of costs. This loan would positively impact our company by providing us with the upfront costs for more production runs, ultimately allowing us to create a name for ourselves in the CPG (consumer packaged goods) industry.

Fixed: the total loan amount must be raised in order for funds to be sent to the Lending Partner. If the loan is not funded in full within the fundraising period, the loan will expire and any funds raised will be returned to lenders' Kiva accounts.
Flexible: any funds raised within 30 days will be passed along to the Lending Partner facilitating the loan and they will come up with other sources of funding to cover the rest of the loan amount.
What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
