Rosette's story

Rosette, aged 41, is a resident of Rwakakungu. She is married and has two girls, both boarding in secondary school. Her business is cattle and dairy production, where she averages 30 liters of milk per day, fetching her a reasonable income.

This success pushes her to buy more dairy cows so that she can earn more money from milk to sustain the family and educate her children up to university level.

Rosette looks after her elderly parents and also one child for her elder sister, who is divorced. She is pictured with the child she looks after.

Rosette is also into the cattle-fattening business. She buys young cows, rears them for three months, and then sells them at a slightly higher price. She buys these cows from farmers in Kazo and then sells them to traders in Kazo town, who transport them to Kampala for slaughtering.
