A loan helped to buy more agricultural surplus from other small farmers to sell in the market.

Doca's story

Doca is a 44-year-old Mozambican woman living in Manica province with her family. She is a smaller farmer who produces a variety of grain crops such as maize, sorghum, beans and peanuts, as well as veggies such as lettuce, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, onions and green peppers. She takes a small amount of the production to feed her family and sells the high volume in the market in order to earn some money.

In 2021, Doca started benefiting from iDE trainings about financial education and business plans, which helped her to improve her business. She also had access to many other farmers with whom to exchange experiences.

Thanks to this assistance, Doca has been able to increase her number of clients, which causes her to seek more crops for her clientele. Considering the fact that she doesn't have enough financial resources to acquire more products, Doca is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy more agricultural surplus from other small farmers to sell in the market.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers access to new markets and agricultural resources.
