A loan helped black woman owned business purchase equipment, build a website, and assist with Covid relief.

Deborah's story

Serving my family, friends, and community for years at no charge with hair care, blowouts, and haircuts came naturally to me. Haircare wasn’t thought of as a career but a way to help, where I could by providing a service I have always loved. As a spouse of a veteran, I have had the honor of seeing hair care in different places. However, something changed when I moved to Washington State. I found myself excited about how plentiful hair care was, but disappointed that I couldn’t find a salon that could do a simple roller set on my hair type.

So, I did what I always did. I became the service that was needed to provide hair care for myself and my children. Before I knew it, my children and I became a walking advertisement for what people in this community were looking for, and the idea was born, almost immediately, I went to school, and I became a licensed beautician and Haircare instructor, and the sky became the limit, and I have been in this business licensed for 15 years.
