I ended up pregnant with my first son, my sister dropped out of college, and my baby brother was murdered. People ask me how I remain motivated? I want to break the cycle, I want to finish the race, and I'm the last person with the baton. Entrepreneurship is the only way. I won't stop and I can't afford to give up. For others, there are choices, fail-safes. For me, there are none. I have to give it my all. I have too many people depending on me. I have re-created my level of thinking. I have restructured my mind frame. Growing up in inner cities, you experience so much, and the majority of those problems that were acquired could've been cured with success and wealth. As a mother, I will be a failure if I allow my children to endure things that I had to just to be in the position to write this story at 28 years old. My business is named Luxury LaVie Hairtique and Beauty Bar. The services offered at Luxury LaVie are extensions, wigs, and wig installations, as well as the care and treatment of ethnic hair. My business currently operates inside of a salon located on Floyd Boulevard, in Sioux City, Iowa. I also have an e-commerce site to provide clients with extensive options. Luxury LaVie is a brand that I created in 2020 while still residing in Louisiana, with the intention of making it a lifestyle brand. A brand that can work for anyone. "LaVie" is French for life, of course, paying homage to my Louisiana roots.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I am applying for this loan to expand my space as well as provide a workspace for different licensed professionals. This loan will help with hiring, inventory expansion, and the purchasing of new equipment to help me continue growing my business. I feel that with this loan I can successfully house great talent under one roof that will provide more convenience to clients. My business will be positively impacted by this loan due to the ability to expand my offerings, grow and develop my staff. Also, this loan will give me the opportunity to attract clients to downtown Sioux City, bettering the culture of diversity, positivity, and creativity.

Kiva will not partner with an organization that charges unreasonable interest rates, and we require Lending Partners to fully disclose their rates. In addition, we only partner with microfinance institutions and organizations that have a social mission to serve the poor, unbanked, and underserved.
