I decided to start my business in 2019 because I had surgery and the existing jobs I had involved too much physical labor. After my surgery, I wanted to better take care of myself and the surgery gave me the push to start the business I always wanted. I decided to leave my jobs and with the little savings, I had to go on this pursuit. Since I work out of an outdoors public market the biggest challenge in my business right now has been the pandemic and the restrictions.
All 2020 I keep working but just half the operation. Now my daughter is helping me and she is working with me on new ideas to create an online store. We started with Facebook and now we want to improve this operation.
What is the purpose of this loan?
With this new Kiva loan, I plan to expand the stock in jewelry, especially because I sell 100% gold and silver.
I also want to invest more in display boxes, currently, the ones I have been damaged so I want to make sure my merchandise is displayed professionally. Improve the security and sanitary measures by buying masks, new boxes, and hand sanitizers.
Overall the main goal with this loan is to improve the variety of products and the alternatives to sale in person and online and hopefully hire an employee.

What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
