Angel's story

Angel is an artisan from Mexico who specializes in ceramic replicas and figurines. He would like to bring on additional artisans at his workshop and invest in a bulk purchase of clay, molds and gas.

Angel has been selling through Novica since 2003. This is his story: He comes from a family with generations of artisan experience. He learned the family ceramic techniques from his father, Antonio, a renowned artisan. Angel began a long study of Mexico's pre-Hispanic cultures and learned the Nahuatl language spoken in ancient Mesoamerica. He uses clay from northern Oaxaca state, the only clay of this kind in Mexico and perhaps in the world. The unique characteristics of this yellow clay make it ideal for his work.

"I'd like to send you all my biggest thanks for your support. Having access to this kind of microcredit is truly a blessing for us. Life as a craftsman is hard and arduous but in return we can dedicate ourselves to an activity that satisfies us fully in the spiritual sense. Most of us artisans dedicate ourselves to this for love of craftsmanship, for love of our traditions, for a deep love of our culture that gives us the pride of having a unique identity in the world. Your support over the years has allowed us not only to survive, but to grow our business. Thanks!"
