Anna's story

I, like many other young and beginning farmers, did not come from an agricultural background. However I have always had this inexplicable connection to soil, and plants, and to creating things. It was while I was at college that I had a breakthrough moment. I studied Agricultural Sciences at the Macdonald College of McGill University in Ste.Anne-de-Bellevue, QC. While there I I fell into a community of new and aspiring organic farmers, who inspired me to realize that farming could be a way to make a living.

When I first discovered that farming was a viable career option, it was like finding my true place in the world for the first time. I have spent several years since working for other farms in various capacities, either as an intern, or a field crew member, or as a manger. I was able to gain a lot of experience working on these farms and make an impact on how they were run, and at the same time they made a huge impact on me and helped me to become the farmer that I am now. Now that I own and manage my own farm business, I feel as if there is nothing else in the world I am meant to be doing. I'm a proud and determined farm business owner, and I'm additionally proud to be a part of the shifting demographic towards more female owned and operated farm businesses.
