Yenis Judith's story

Yenis Judith is a 57 year old microentrepreneur. She is a resident of the city of Sabanagrande where she lives with her family. For 10 years, she has sold pork. From a very young age, she has lived in a rural area with her parents working humbly on farms. Along with her parents in Sabanagrande, they dedicated themselves to working humble but honest work. From the age of 15, she was helping her parents to take care of and sell pigs, they took care of pork industry merchants. With time and experience, she ventured into selling meat until she managed to establish a customer base, expand it and establish a small store in her own home. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred worldwide, her work deteriorated due to biosecurity concerns and her income drastically decreased. For this reason, she is requesting her first loan from Kiva with the Fundación Santo Domingo to invest in the purchase of pigs to increase the rotation of meats at the end of year due to increase in demand. With this, she can continue to sell, pay suppliers cash since the high demand makes the merchandise scarce at the end of the Support her loan for her business.
