A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Josephine's Group's story

Josephine represents a 14-member farmers' group in Webuye District, Kenya. She is a 50-year-old married woman with 6 children. She is a very hardworking individual.

Although Josephine has been a farmer for more than 20 years, she is new to One Acre Fund and decided to join this year because she really wanted to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Josephine wanted to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Josephine hopes to be able to send her children to school.

With this loan, the group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 7.5 acres of land. They will also receive a total of 5 solar lights.
