but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a new automated sewing machine and fabrics for smooth running of her tailoring business.

Dutika's Group's story

Dutika, standing to the right in the photograph with her toddler son, is a humble resident of a small village in Koraput District, Odisha, India. She has a small family of two children and a husband who is engaged in agricultural activities.

Her husband’s monthly income was 3,000 INR, which was insufficient to meet their household expenses. So Dutika took a concrete step to start an income generating business in order to support her family.

Dutika and her husband were agricultural laborers with income sufficient only to buy food for themselves and their two children. She, being an independent woman, is now engaged in a tailoring business. She learned this art from her mother when she was in school.

Dutika and her group member are requesting a loan amount of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner Peoples Forum. She will use her portion of the loan to purchase a new automated sewing machine and fabrics for smooth running of her tailoring business and to increase her income.

Dutika is eagerly awaiting for your kind help.
