Cheng Em's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland and to pay for labour for harvesting rice.

Cheng Em's Group's story

Cheng Em, 57, is the married mother of six children, three of whom are dependent on her and still in school. Originally from a rural village of the Chueng Prey district of Kampong Cham province, rice farming has been the family's main source of income for 37 years. To earn more income and better support the family, her husband works as a paid worker. Together, they can earn about 60,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day to meet the family’s needs. They can manage to save about 40,000 KHR each day for future needs.

Cheng Em’s group comprises three members who live in the same village. This is Cheng Em's second loan cycle with VisionFund. Her first loan helped her better support her family. She is leading her group to apply for this loan. As the leader, she wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland. She would also use a portion to pay for labour for harvesting rice. With this loan, she hopes to grow her rice fruitfully and healthily and to make more income to improve her standard of living and keep her children in school.
