Kranti Group's story

This group formed in the year 2015 at Ghantasahada village of Bolangir district, Odisha, India. These are 12 active, self-dependent women with an objective for developing their existing businesses, as well as their livelihoods.

Sulochana is one of them who has taken a great role for her development and for her group members' source of revenue improvement. She is standing second from the right with a raised hand in the photo. She is about 37 years old and living with her husband and only son.

Sulochana and her husband have been engaged with a tea and tiffin (snacks) stall business for the last four years. Through the concerned business they earn a monthly income of 8,500 INR. Sulochana plans to improve her business in the course of loan. She will purchase necessary utensils, four chairs, a gas stove, and rice, wheat, oil, etc. She hopes to get more income through the expansion of her business. From that, Sulochana will save more for her future needs.

The other 11 members of her group are also smart at their professions and are also actively engaged with different businesses like vegetable vending, tailoring, fancy and cosmetics shop, the cloth business, a grocery shop, dairy, etc. With this loan, they all hope to heighten their livelihoods.
