Enhtuya's story

Enhtuya G. is a widow with three children. She lives with her two young children in the Narantuul district of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Her oldest daughter is a senior in a local high school and her 6-year-old daughter goes to a kindergarten.

Since 1997, she has been selling TV remote controls for various consumer electronics in the Narantuul market, the largest outdoor market in Ulaanbaatar. She started the business with a capital of 500,000 MNT (1 U.S. dollar equals approximately 1,500 MNT), and currently her business capital is about 4,000,000 MNT. Compared to when she started, her business has stabilized with some trusted clients.

In addition to selling new remote controls, she repairs old remote controls and resells antiques. Her business profit is the only source of income for her family. Her husband passed away three years ago and her only son is a soldier in the army.

In the future, she would like to make sure that her two daughters will be able to go to university without financial strains. She requests a loan for purchasing more antiques and remote controls.
