Caroline is 25 years old and she’s from a town called Choma in the southern province of Zambia. She is currently studying at one of the open universities and is due to complete her studies in December. To support herself through university, Caroline has been running her own business as a Zoona mobile money transfer agent. She works hard to be of service to people in her community. Caroline’s main challenge is that she struggles with her cash float, as she needs to see to the family’s basic needs. Also, her profit margins are low due to the fact that she does not have enough float in her business to serve customers who need to transact large sums of money. This has a negative impact on the business, as she loses out on profit.

Caroline is requesting her first Kiva loan in order to increase her capital base, so that she can serve customers who need to transact larger sums of money and earn more profits. The loan will also be used to purchase a trading a kiosk, so that her location can be more visible and attract more customers. Earning more profits will make life much easier. Caroline’s hopes and dreams are to be the best Zoona mobile money transfer provider and expand to more locations. She is eager to improve her business and pay back her loan. She says this business gives her hope for the future, and she appreciates the Kiva lenders.
