A loan helped To purchase a trading kiosk and have the funds needed to start running her own business as a mobile money transfer agent.

Ruth's story

Ruth is 37 years old. She grew up in Lusaka and completed her schooling here. She attempted completing a nursing qualification but this did not work out due to financial constraints. She then saw that becoming an entrepreneur would improve her standard of living because she would be in control of her own revenue and time.

The Zambian economy is unpredictable and volatile and this has contributed to many failed attempts at starting her own business. Today, Ruth is excited to be connected to Kiva lenders as this will help her make her dream of being financially independent through running her own business come true. She hopes to help take safe money transfer facilities to her community where most of the locals are unbanked and in need of this kind of service. This loan will enable Ruth to be able to purchase a trading kiosk and have the funds needed for her to start running her own business as a mobile money transfer agent.

Ruth is reaching out to Kiva lenders because she knows that this is a safe, reasonable way for her to generate the capital she needs to start running her own business. Ruth says running her own business will change her life because she will be in a position to take care of herself and have access to basic needs.
