Maria Mercedes's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy watermelon, plantains, bananas, tomatoes, potatoes and squash, etc.

Maria Mercedes's story

María, aged 70, studied up to second grade as her family had few financial resources and were unable to send her to school. She is now a single mother of four children, one son and the rest daughters. Two of her children have already started their own families and two of her children and one grandchild live with her. These are her only dependants.

María works selling fruit and vegetables. She has been doing this for about ten years. She says that her mother taught her this business and encouraged her to start her own business. She has to walk about 50 m to reach her sales point and she works for eight hours per day on average.

María will use the loan to buy watermelon, plantains, bananas, tomatoes, potatoes and squash, etc. She hopes to increase her sales, because by investing this loan she will not lack any products.

María dreams of having a large business and will be able to use her earnings to provide her family with a better quality of life. She will do all this with the loan she is going to receive.
