Carmen Veronica's story

Carmen is a 33 year old woman who lives with her young daughter in Santo Domingo city, a place known for its marvelous places, bodies of water and for its cultural exchange.

Carmen is a hardworking mother who goes to work very early. She is a telephone operator in a taxi cab company. She has worked there for various years and she says that it is not easy because some times she need to work shifts and from there go very early in the morning to take care of her responsibilities. Even after having some tough nights, she is a very responsible woman and, "even more when you have a daughter" she says. She became a mother three years ago and it has not been easy to raise her daughter. This is why she has to work very hard, for her well-being. Thanks to her mother who helps care for her daughter, she can go to work.

Carmen, as any responsible mother has a dream, to see her daughter succeed. Because of this, and for various months now, she dreams of starting her own business, to have another source of income and be able to provide her daughter with an education. With this loan and some small savings, she will start a business selling clothes. She will do this in her free time from work and during the weekends. She feels happy and is very thankful to KIVA since this is her first loan and more so because she will invest in something that will help her improve and get ahead.
