Basanti's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy in bulk all the raw materials for weaving, such as colours, dyes, ribbons, and threads.

Basanti's Group's story

Basanti is a 32-year-old mother of two teenage children. She is the one standing to the left hand side in the photograph. A weaver by profession, Basanti works nine hours on her loom to weave beautiful cotton tablecloths. Her husband left her alone three years back, and being the sole earner, she works really hard to provide for her children.

Basanti weaves cotton threads as well on her loom. She uses detergent for washing them before starching them for straightening. Once the threads are straightened, she dyes them in colours.

She, along with her group member, has applied for a loan of 30,000 INR. Basanti will use her portion of the loan amount to buy in bulk all the raw materials, such as colours, dyes, ribbons and threads, so that she can weave a greater quantity of tablecloths. The finished products are mostly collected by hand-loom shops and wholesalers in the market at a wholesale rate. Apart from this, she also sells them to the local customers on an order basis.

Basanti hopes that, with this investment, she will be able to increase her income from the business.
