Rosa Iris's story

Rosa Iris is 51 years old, married, and has two grown children, only one of whom is dependent on her.

Rosa remembers that since she was 15 years old she loved cooking. She was not able to finish school and had to generate some income to help her mother with household expenses. She started working as an assistant to an Italian chef and learned about all kinds of pastas and how to make pizza, which is now her specialty.

She continued to work at different shops and restaurants when she decided to get married and start her own family. She then opened her own soda shop which later became a well-known restaurant in the area, famous for its pizzas and pastas. But as time went by the rent kept increasing and she had to move to another location. She found a new spot just a few weeks ago, right across the street from where her previous and famous pizzeria was. It is much less expensive and is at a better place to continue with her previous customers and to acquire new ones.

She needs this loan so she can buy dining room furniture, an 8 cubic foot freezer, a gas grill, and a fryer with two baskets so she can provide smooth service to her customers. Iris's restaurant provides employment to two mothers who are heads of household and have been working with her for five years.

The greatest challenge and goal of this restaurant is to provide employment to more young people from the area so they can take on some responsibility for the expenses in their households.
