Banco Mujer Mujeres De Excelencia Group's story

Banco Mujer Mujeres de Excelencia is a group that was formed in 2007, in the township of Aguas Frias. It had the objective of having easy access to financing awarded by Fundación Mujer, under the group loan program. They have a history and an excellent record of payments with their previous loans. They have fulfilled all the requisites to remain in the program. They live in a community with few employment opportunities and the workers are contracted by the season.

Isabel is a young 33 year old woman. She is the mother of two young girls and lives in a common-law relationship with the father of her children. She was the beneficiary of a parcel of land that INDER granted her a number of years ago. This is where she has her productive activity, which is agriculture. She works the land along with her companion as this is the only source of income for the household. She grows yucca, plantain, taro and others. She sells her vegetables to a middleman who passes through her community.

She needs financing to strengthen her agriculture with inputs and labor to get the land ready as she wants to plant more variety. Her goal is to improve her living conditions and those of her family. So she is working hard to make income and get ahead. She is totally devoted to helping her daughters with their studies so they become professionals and good people in the future.

She has the experience needed to manage numbers so she was named Treasurer of the communal bank. Besides her are two other members who are going to invest in agriculture and pork raising. All the members are looking for common objectives for the good of their families.
