Paduanas De Buena Fe Group's story

In the municipality of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, the department of Sacatepéquez, Southwest Guatemala, a small town close to Antigua Guatemala, live the 7 group members of “Paduanas de Buena Fe” trust bank. Residents of a place known for its textiles and traditional cloths, many of these women are weavers, crafting güipiles, traditional blouses, napkins, table cloths, and other typical indigenous products. Some clients raise chickens, as well, and others sell snacks, such as tostadas, chuchitos, which are little meat-pies, tamales, ice-cream, and other delicious foods. Pati s a 25-year-old woman and member of the Paduanas de Buena Fe trust bank who was able to complete her secondary school education, with a degree as a preschool teacher. Now, she is a mother, teacher, and business woman, providing a quality life to her little 2-year-old daughter, and family. In the mornings Pati teaches at a local preschool, and in the afternoons, she runs her business weaving traditional cloth, creating beautiful fajas, belts, napkins, güipiles, traditional blouses, and selling them to order, meeting the demand of her customers. With her new loan, this motivated woman plans to buy threads and other materials for her production of traditional cloths, and also invest in several employees to expand the capacity and ability of her business. Pati dreams of growing her business until she has her own store to showcase and sell her product. With 2 years in Friendship Bridge, she has the confidence and tools she needs to accomplish her goal, Thank you Kiva and Friendship Bridge!!
