A loan helped to supply her business with new clothing styles and stationery.

Elsa Marina's story

Elsa lives in the country's capital city, in a neighborhood located in one of its suburbs. She became a widow and with her work has paid for all the expenses for the household and her only son.

Elsa is 44 years old and is a shopkeeper with 11 years of experience. At first, she sold clothing exclusively; however, she felt a more profitable option would be to open a variety store on the premises, where not only would she have clothing items for sale, but a variety of products: stationery, cosmetics, personal hygiene items, accessories, costume jewelry, gifts for any occasion and toys. Her intuition was right on target, now her neighbors and passersby are happy to find a wide variety of products nearby at excellent prices and with the finest customer service.

With the aim of supplying her business with new styles of clothing and stationery, she applied for a loan - her first Kiva loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo - to invest this capital at an early bird sale, where she obtains a variety of merchandise at excellent prices. Her goal for the future is to pay off her house and pay for her son's professional education.
