Abdullahi Dan Tela's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy food and clothing, eliminating the pressure to sell maize for low prices at harvest.

Abdullahi Dan Tela's story

Abdullahi is a Babban Gona maize farmer. Thanks to Babban Gona’s support, Abdullahi is thankful that his days of poor yields are long gone. As a Babban Gona member, he has the opportunity to achieve yields of up to 8 metric tonnes of maize per hectare of land, 5.5 times the yield of the average Nigerian farmer. Traditionally, Abdullahi would have had to sell his maize for low prices at harvest to meet his immediate cash needs.

With this loan and Babban Gona’s support, Abdullahi will store the maize he harvests and delay its sale until a later date in the season when he can obtain a significantly higher price for his maize at a premium up to 37% more than the harvest price. With the opportunity to earn up to 2,000 USD/hectare, Abdullahi now has the opportunity to actualize his dream to grow his agriculture business for himself and his family members.

He would like to use this additional income to acquire more land to put into the Babban Gona program.
