Natela's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a milk-cow and start dairy farming.

Natela's story

Natela is a 62-year-old married woman who lives with her husband in a small village called Chinti. The family lives in poverty as they have no source of stable income. Natela and her husband have a small agricultural activity: they take care of several chickens and pigs, which are sold at the local market.

Natela wants to expand her agribusiness and tackle their financial difficulties. Natela requested a loan from local financial institutions several times without any success. Her loan request was rejected each time, because of low income and the family’s poor living conditions. Her loan request was approved in the framework of a joint initiative of Kiva and Credo. The start-up loan program envisions the provision of business start-up and re-startup credits with soft conditions for the country's rural poor, who do not have access to credit products, being regarded as “high risk borrowers” because of low income.

Natela plans to purchase a milk-cow with the requested amount and start dairy farming. She will start production of milk products and will sell them in the open market of the nearby town. As a result of the new business initiative, implemented with the assistance of Kiva, the income of the family will increase greatly. Natela and her husband will be able to create better living conditions for themselves.
