Upile's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to provide essential funds needed for her to serve her customers who need to access financial service and procure a web-enabled phone and a trading trolley.

Upile's story

Upile is 21 years old. She is the first born in a family of three. She lives with her parents and has always wanted to run her own business. Upile just finished training with Zoona so that she can start running her own Zoona mobile money transfer business in Dowa, Malawi. Upile completed her high school education in 2013 but did not go to college due to lack of sponsorship. Her parents do not have enough money to keep all three of them in school so Upile had to give way to her younger siblings so that they too can at least have a high school certificate.

Upile says her life will change once she starts running her own business because she will be able to provide for her basic needs and help out her parents by buying groceries and paying for bills.
Upile needs a Kiva loan in order to start running her Zoona mobile money transfer business. The loan will be used to provide essential funds needed for her to serve her customers who need to access financial services. She will also use the loan to purchase a trading trolley, and a mobile phone and have the funds needed to serve customers. These items are necessary for her to start her business.

Upile has big dreams for the future. Her dream is to run a successful business and diversify by opening a restaurant so that she can get to a point where she pays for her siblings’ college tuition.
