A loan helped to buy seeds and start horticultural farming.
Most of the Kenyan people find an opportunity to make a living and progress through practicing mixed farming. Such is the case of Damaris who, at the age of 53, has a small parcel of land. Damaris is a very hardworking, very honest and warmhearted farmer who hails from the Kerugoya area of Kenya, an area that has one of the best weather patterns on earth for farming. Damaris is the proud mother of a lovely family whom she adores and always protects. Damaris' upbringing was very challenging, and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty. That is why she started farming six years ago. Through farming, she has been able to earn a decent income. Damaris is the breadwinner of her family, and this really pushes her to work hard so that her children will have a bright future and her parents will have a comfortable life. Damaris is seeking a loan to buy seeds and start horticultural farming so that she can use the excess space on her land. She dreams of buying more land and increasing her horticultural farming. Accessing funds is very difficult for a woman in Africa, but through institutions such as Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, Damaris is optimistic that her dream will be realized and her life will completely change. Through the income from horticultural farming, Damaris will assure her children a bright future and will be able to pay tuition fees for her siblings who depend on her. Through your loan, the promise of supporting small-scale farmers will be achieved. For Damaris, nothing is impossible. She wants to continue working to fulfill her dream of becoming the largest horticulture farmer so that she can enjoy a good quality life. Kindly make a loan!
