A loan helped to buy pigs.

El Rincón De Mayorazgo Group's story

In one of the communities in the state of Mexico the celebrations of Mazahua origin have been blended with two Christian religions that stand out here: Catholic and Evangelical.

This is where the community bank group "El Rincón de Mayorazgo" was established. Francisco, 57, is one of the members and he continues to sell "carnitas" (a traditional pork dish). Sometimes he raises animals to insure the quality of the products he sells and to earn extra income.

Francisco started his business 35 years ago as it was difficult to find work with a good income. He had to care for his wife and ten children who are now self-sufficient. Before having his own business he worked for other people in the same trade. Once he had acquired enough experience he decided to go his own way and become independent. Nowadays his family expenses have decreased so Francisco only needs to make and sell the "carnitas" two times a week which he does in the community streets.

Francisco is very grateful to VFMexico since the loan has helped him build pig pens. Little by little he also has bought animals such as sheep, turkeys and chickens. The most important thing is the home improvement he has done, and covering family needs. The new loan will be used to buy pigs and feed.

The other members of the group are Sandra who will invest in sheep; Felipa, in plastics; Isabel, in clothing and Fidel, in pigs.
