A loan helped to buy alpaca wool wholesale.

Achocalla Group's story

The “ACHOCALLA” communal bank is starting their fourth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Villa Adela regional branch. It is made up of nine members, led by a board of directors with Julia as President. The businesses that the members carry out are varied. Amongst them are: the sale of wood, selling blankets, selling jelly, the sale of furniture, selling sweaters and selling sports clothing.

The loan they are taking out will benefit these micro-entrepreneurs, Julia being one of them. She indicated that she became a member of Pro Mujer three years ago, joining on the invitation of a friend. She currently has a business selling blankets. She says she learned the business from her friend and started it more than 18 years ago.

The loan that she is now taking out is to increase her capital (buying alpaca wool wholesale) that she will acquire at the vendors in the city of El Alto and later after making them, will sell in her sales space. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her family economically as she is married and has six children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she replied that the likes the health and savings services that the institution offers.
