A loan helped to buy wholesale beef.

Durasnitos Group's story

The communal group 'Durasnitos' started it's first cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal Panamericana (Panamerican Central Focus). The group is made up of eight members, and is run by a Board of Directors with Beatriz is the president. The group members run a variety of small businesses including: selling blankets, selling sports clothing and selling chicken.

The loan that the group takes out will benefit the small-businesswomen in the group. This is the first time Beatriz has been involved in Pro Mujer, she joined up on the invitation of a friend who is already part of the organization.

Beatriz has her own butcher shop. She learnt the trade using her own initiative a few years ago. Prior to running a butchers, Beatriz had a corner store, her neighbours then suggested she change businesses. Thus she took their advice and learnt butchering.

Beatriz will use the money from the loan to buy wholesale beef that she will purchase from wholesale sellers in the city of El Alto and then sell at retail prices in her store. This business allows Beatriz to make money to support her family economically. Beatriz is divorced with two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Beatriz responded that she enjoys the trainings and the health service that the organisation offers.
