Rivera Del Río Group's story

In Oaxaca, like in most of the country, the national holidays decorate the streets of the towns. The citizens place flags, bells, and other decorations on the outside of their homes symbolizing the independence of Mexico. One specific community has boat tours, horse races, dances, songs and poem readings as a part of the cultural program. Finally, the mayor gives a famous shout from the municipal palace, and once complete, it leads to a large dance. In this city, a group came together to request assistance from VF Mexico. Its name is Rivera del Rio, and it is currently made up of: Nicolasa, who sells food and recyclable products; Maria, clothing; Rebeca and Regulo, food; Israel, tortillas and Celia, sweets. For their part, Jovita and Pablo manage a tailor shop, Quirino is a carpenter, and Mauro has a mechanic workshop.

Quirino is a hard-working man and is committed to his family made up of his wife Carmela and his four children, two of which are still financially dependent on him. As a young man he learned carpentry from his father who was a master of the repair and production of all types of furniture. He now has 27 years of experience and wants to continue with his business since beyond being a financial activity, it is a family legacy. "I like my job, offering my clients unique designs made by me, and of course, if they bring me their model I meet their requirements," he says happily.

His workshop is located behind his house where there is a small cliff with a view of the river that runs through the community. After the work day Quirino drops down to the river bank to be with his family. The loans that VF Mexico has provided have facilitated the growth of his carpenter shop, and he buys much more raw materials and tools. Wih this new loan he will buy nails, a hammer, a circular saw, glue, and wood since he has to deliver his outstanding orders.
