Don Lorenzo Group's story

Marly is a fifty-five year old woman who is married and has two independent children. Her business is a bookstore. She is intelligent, patient, and very friendly. She carries out her business in the “Don Lorenzo” community, a semi-rural area characterized by agricultural production.

Marly is short, in good health, and wears glasses (she’s seated in the center wearing a sky-blue blouse). Her maternal language is Guarani, and she speaks Spanish. She shares her life with her spouse who works in the yucca trade. They live in their own house made of brick which only has electricity.

The need to improve her bookstore led her to form a personal bank with other businesses that sell cuñapes, vegetables, fruits, eggs, leather crafts, meals, and second-hand clothing. She works during the week from home in her bookstore which sells office supplies and has a photocopy service. “I bought a photocopier, and I need to supply to bookstore,” she says.

The advantage of her business is the lack of competition in the area; the disadvantage is the lack of capital to buy office supplies to supply her bookstore. Her dream is to have a complete bookstore, and she wants to buy supplies for her store. This is the first cycle of loans with the institution and the first year that she started this work. It’s for these reasons Marly requests a loan to buy office supplies to supply her bookstore.
