Flor De María's story

Flor de María, 32, the second from the left, has a chicken farm in Los Ángeles, a Tzotzil community in the central Chiapas highlands. Gabriela, 22, first from the left, Carolina, 26, third from the left and Manuela, 66, fourth from the left, work with her on the farm and will serve as guarantors of Flor’s loan. Gabriela is Flor’s sister, Carolina is her sister-in-law and Manuela is her mother-n-law.

The four women have been working together in poultry growth for three years now. They adapted a lot they own into a farm with all the services needed for a poultry growth system. The farm is currently unused due to a lack of resources.

Flor is asking for a loan to buy 400 chickens, feed and medicines needed to restock the farm. As a result, she will be able to exploit the farm to larger capacity than ever before. Besides, it will provide four families with a steady source of income in one of the most excluded regions in the country.
