Shara's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase another vehicle.

Shara's story

Shara has been in business for the past nine months. She is the proud owner of Direct Emergency Medical Services, an emergency and non-emergency transport business that serves residents of Bergen county in New Jersey.

Before opening her business, Shara worked in a physical therapy office and learned the ins and outs of health insurance billing. Shara learned about the need for private ambulance services through her work experience and from her brother who is an EMT. She poured her personal savings into starting the business and used her own money to purchase the company’s first three vehicles. Each vehicle had to be inspected and licensed.

Shara’s greatest success to date is securing a contract with the state of New Jersey to provide ambulance services for Medicare patients. Her largest difficulty now is raising the capital to meet the demand for her services. Shara has struggled with her personal credit in the past and hopes to use this loan as an opportunity to rebuild.

Shara and her business will greatly benefit from a Kiva loan from you. She will use the funds to purchase a new vehicle and for working capital to ensure consistent employment for her ambulance drivers. Though Shara works very hard running her business and she maintains a part time job on the side, she is happy pursuing her dream as a business owner.
