Julia Estebana's story

Julia is 38 years old and is a stay at home mom. She studied through fourth grade but didn't continue studying because her parents did not have sufficient income in order to send her to school. She has a life partner and four children. The oldest has already begun a family and lives close to Julia's house. The other three are single and two of them attend school, because the youngest is still too little. Her life partner works in agriculture and she also helps with this work.

Julia, out of the great need to help her children get ahead, has had to work very hard in agriculture, planting corn and chiles. Around harvest time she gets up very early to go to the field and help her partner in this work, along with her children. Currently they are planting corn and the land where they have the harvest is close to their home. Five years ago Julia decided to start a store where she sells sweets, candies, enchiladas, fried yucca, desserts, and other items. It has helped her a lot since she sells them to neighbors and this generates income for the well-being of her family.

Julia needs a loan in order to buy agricultural products such as seed, fertilizer and pesticides for insects. She will prepare the land and pay for manual labor.

Julia's dream is to repair her home, because the roof is deteriorated and leaks during the rainy season. She also wants to give her children the opportunity for a University education, so that they can have better opportunities in life.
