Los Toles Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more products, such as different styles and colors of better quality thread, which she can use to embroider more blouses, napkins, and cloths.

Los Toles Group's story

In a rural area of Quiché, located in the Western part of Guatemala, the trust bank “Los Toles” thrives. Humble women who maintain strong determination to contribute to the daily survival of their families and offer better opportunities for the lives of their children make up this group.

A year ago, this group of women had the benefit of receiving a microloan, through which they have gradually seen growth and establishment of their businesses. Micaela, a 61-year-old woman who has never been to school, commented that she has definitely seen this kind of change in her business. Micaela runs her business with the objective of improving her family's quality of life, embroidering and weaving traditional Guatemalan “huipiles”, or blouses, napkins, and “perrajes”, large cloths used for carrying babies and goods. With the new loan that she is requesting, this intelligent woman will buy more products, such as different styles and colors of better quality thread, which she can use to embroider more blouses, napkins, and cloths. For extra income, Micaela has been able to run another side business raising and selling chickens and pigs, and this has proved successful. Micaela has been married for 40 years, and her husband is a farmer who plants and sells corn and beans. She has seven children, and together with her husband, Micaela has been able give her children education through secondary school.

These women are astonished by and very grateful for loving people around the world who generously supply the capital for their microloans.
