Santa Fe Group's story

Nelida is 30 years old. She lives with her partner and has 4 children of ages 3, 6, 9 and 12. Her business is the handcraft of sao hats.

She is a good mother, caring and generous. Her work is conducted in the neighborhood of 'plan 3000’ area which is populated by the victims of the river flooding. It is currently a manufacturing and production zone.

Nelida has dark complexion, short and thin (center, wearing blue long-sleeved turtleneck and black pants). Her native language is Guarani and she speaks Spanish. Her business is the manufacture of sao hats. They are made with ‘sao’ palm tree branch. They are very traditional and used often to cover from the sun. "Our craft is the only income-generating work in the community so we spend all of our time", she says.

The advantage of the business is that she sells out. The disadvantage is the lack of capital to purchase materials such as palm branches, wires, glue, fabric and others. Her dream is to improve her income. She wants to buy materials to manufacture sao hats for steady work. This is the first cycle of loan with the institution in 18 years of work.

Nelida requests a loan to buy material to manufacture sao hats.
