Grupo Ada Group's story
The communal bank "Grupo Ada" is starting its 2nd loan cycle with Pro Mujer. They meet in the Santiago II central office. The group has 9 members and is led by a board of directors where Virginia is the president. The members of this group have a variety of businesses such as: the sale of sweaters, the sale of sweets, the sale of condiments, the sale of sports clothes, the sale of meat, and the sale of food. The loan they are taking will benefit all of the small businesspeople in the group. Virginia states that she joined Pro Mujer at the invitation of a friend who is a client of the institution. Now she has a business selling condiments. She learned this business on her own over a number of years, and with the help of her friend she decided to start up this business. The loan that Virginia is taking now will be used to increase her working capital (to buy condiments at wholesale). She will buy from the wholesale distributors in the city of El Alto, and will later sell in the fairs in the city of El Alto. This way of working enables her to generate resources to support her family financially, as she is married and has 5 children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the health services that the institution offers.
