A loan helped to buy beds, chairs, mattresses and wardrobes.

Elsy's story

Elsy is a 34 year old mother who has found a way of growing a business through the sales of goods in her home town of Turbana.

She noticed that the local residents had to go to neighboring towns or even to Cartagena to buy essentials for the home. Faced with this problem, she found an opportunity to invest her savings in beds, mattresses, cribs, wardrobes, rocking chairs and other things, and adapted a local premises to show her products.

She now has five years experience and an extensive clientele, who can find all sorts of products for the home at good prices and payment plans.

She is currently requesting a Kiva loan, the first time she is taking a loan through the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she will use to buy beds, chairs, mattresses and wardrobe from her supplier in Sampues to then sell to the local inhabitants.

This loan will allow her to broaden her selection, and increase her sales. Her aim for the future is to expand her business to provide well-being for her children.
