Tat's Group's story

This five-member group of borrowers from Battambang Province, Cambodia, is led by Y., 49, a mother of three children, one married and living separately, one learning to repair mobile phones, and one attending school. Y. produces Naem food (a roll made of hashed meat, usually pork, wrapped and cooked in banana leaves) for which she has many customers who buy from her in bulk. She recently developed plans to increase the size of her business, so she is now requesting a loan to buy hundreds of kilograms of pork for that expansion.

The other four group members are: K., 46, who sells Naem food in her local village and is requesting a loan to buy a bicycle for her business; Y., 50, who sells Naem food from his motorbike and is looking for a loan to buy more Naem food for his business; S., 39, who sells junk food with papaya throughout the whole commune and is applying for a loan to buy more chairs and tables for her business; S., 25, who sells Naem food and is asking for a loan to build a small store for her business.
