Shabyarani's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more grocery items for her grocery shop.

Shabyarani's story

Shabyarani stays in a small village in Kandi, West Bengal. She is 34 years old and lives with her husband and their two sons. The couple could not continue their education due to their family financial issues but they are very much concerned at providing an education to their sons who are studying in grades 8 and 10.

Her husband runs their grocery store and Shabyarani assists her husband after managing all of her household work. They sell items like spices, salt, rice, oil, and sugar, which are in great demand among the local villagers and neighbors. But the family's earnings hardly cover the family's basic needs. In order to meet the growing inflation and to keep provisions for the future cost of her sons’ education, Shabyarani wants to grow her husband’s grocery business. She realizes that she can earn more profit if she can increase her stocks on a large scale. To buy more grocery items in bulk, she needs capital. So she requested a loan from BJS (Kiva’s partner).

She will use the loan to purchase more grocery items and daily needed commodities in bulk so that she can satisfy the regular customers and earn more. With the increased income, Shabyarani will be able to expand her business and save better for her family’s secure future.

Shabyarani thanks her lenders.
