Kimlab's Group's story
A mother of three children from Kampong Cham province, Kimlab is 48 years old. Two of her children are in school. She earn incomes via farming rice and she is a craftswoman who sews sugar palm leaf to make sugar-palm-hat(Khmer traditional hat). She has also been involved in her rice farm for 30 years. She can save about 34,700 KHR per day. The drought on her rice farm is the main challenge that she faces this year. This is her second cycle for Kimlab with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner); she fully repaid her past loan. She earned income from her past loan to help improve her family’s living situation. In a group of four members, she is the group leader. She will spend her new loan portion to buy more sugar palm leaf use for sewing to make more Khmer-traditional-hat (sugar-palm-hat) for sale in market. She hopes that she can get more income to support her children’s education.
