A loan helped to pay for livestock feed, fuel and wheat seeds for land cultivation.

Gayane's story

Gayane and her husband live in Shaghat village, Syuniq region. Their house is located on the bank of the river, and Gayane and her husband also have a fishery. In the backyard of their house is their family farm. It includes the livestock (cows, calves, pigs, piglets, hens and bees) and also wheat, emmer wheat and potatoes. Gayane's children are married and live separately, so Gayane's and her husband's only occupation is farming. To be able to improve the farm, Gayane has applied for this loan. She plans to purchase feed for the livestock, fuel and wheat seeds for land cultivation. As this is Gayane's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of a joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The First-Chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products before because they have no credit history. Through this joint initiative, almost 600 borrowers like Gayane will get a chance to have their first loan and develop their business.
