Aida's Group's story

This group of 35 members is part of the 'banc villageois' which was created on December 28, 2009. It is composed of women from the same district who all get along well with one another and who are active in commerce and in tannery.

ADAMA, standing at the right in the photo with a hand raised, is 54 years old and a married mother of five children (3 boys and 2 girls).

With this loan in hand, she is going to purchase some soap, Omo [brand of detergent], and some sugar from wholesalers, since she has a shop in town. She buys 3 cases of soap at 7,500 each and resells each unit for 8,100 francs CFA. She also buys a bag of Omo at 8,000 francs and sells it for 9,500 francs. Finally she buys a 50-kg sack of sugar at 25,000 francs and resells it for 28,000 francs. Her personal contribution is 5,500 francs.

The profits will be used to pay back the loan and to support herself.
