Mario's story

Mario is 54 years old; he is married to Fermina Duarte and they have two minor school-aged children. Sixteen years ago, he learned to make guampas (glasses made from horn which people use to drink mate and terere - traditional herbal drinks) when he was in the National Penitentiary of Tacumbù. Mario was sent to the detention centre due to an error made by Paraguayan Justice. His spouse teaches hair styling and runs her school in their home in order to have another income for their family. The loan will be used to buy cows' and bulls' horns to be made into products on demand.
